Cessna’s top of the range TTx single-engine piston aircraft will have the option of a new McCauley ‘Blackmac’ Carbon Series contant-speed composite propeller later this year.
The prop, which is now certified for the TTx under an STC, will provide an improved useful load of approximately 35 lb, a smoother ride and improved resistance to impact and blade erosion, says Cessna. The Blacmac Carbon Series composite propeller is also approved for aftermarket installation on the Columbia 400, Cessna 400 and Corvalis TT.
McCauley Blackmac props will also be available for Cessna’s Grand Caravan EX and Beechcraft Baron.
Textron Aviation, which encompasses both Cessna and Beechcraft, also announced at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh that the latest King Air 250 fitted with Rockwell Collins’ Pro Line Fusion touchscreen avionics has also received FAA type certification.
“We are pleased to put the upgraded King Air 250 in the hands of our customers so quickly after announcement two months ago,” said Christi Tannahill, senior vice president, Turboprop Aircraft and Interior Design. “This aircraft brings the latest technology to the cockpit and cabin allowing pilots and passengers alike to experience the Beechcraft King Air in a whole new way.”
Certification for the Pro Line Fusion-equipped King Air 350i/ER is expected to occur in the fourth quarter of this year, followed by the King Air C90GTx in the first half of 2016.
