The UK Civil Aviation Authority is seeking feedback from pilots and airspace users as part of a Post Implementation Review (PIR) of the North West Transit Corridor (NWTC), which replaced the Manchester Low Level Route in February 2025.
The review will examine whether the new corridor has achieved its aims of improving safety, simplifying the airspace structure and maintaining access for General Aviation operating between Liverpool and Manchester controlled airspace. Pilots using the route are being invited to complete a short online survey. The survey closes on 8 June 2026.
The NWTC, designated Restricted Area EGR323, was introduced on 20 February 2025 to replace the long-established Manchester Low Level Route. The Class G corridor provides a VFR transit route between the Liverpool and Manchester control zones, with an upper limit of 1,500ft AMSL — 200ft higher than the previous arrangement.
Other operational changes included wider boundaries, revised operating procedures and recommended use of frequency monitoring codes from both Manchester and Liverpool ATC units.
The CAA said the changes were intended to reduce the risk of mid-air collisions and airspace infringements while preserving access for light aircraft.
