Training firm Skyborne Airline Academy has launched a new Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) programme for aspiring pilots in India, as the country’s aviation sector — led by carriers including Air India — continues rapid expansion.
The programme, approved by India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will allow Indian cadets to complete FAA CPL training at Skyborne’s Vero Beach, Florida campus.

Open to applicants aged 18-40 with no prior flying experience, the course includes single and multi-engine ratings plus instrument privileges, with students expected to complete training in around 12 months.
Skyborne said the new programme is designed to help meet growing demand for airline pilots in India as fleets and route networks expand.
Rina Basu, Skyborne’s regional director for Asia Pacific, said the academy was bringing a “proven US training model” to Indian cadets and creating a direct pathway into commercial aviation careers.
