The CAA has issued a timely reminder about winter flying: “Crisp air, stunning visibility and quieter skies – winter flying has plenty to offer general aviation pilots.
“But shorter days and unpredictable conditions means that preparation is everything.
“From understanding winter weather patterns to managing icing risks, our Safety Sense Leaflet covers what you need to know before you fly this season.”
They’re right. The CAA’s Winter Flying Safety Sense Leaflet (SSL 03) is packed with useful info from forecasting the weather to looking after the aircraft. Best of all, it’s free. Download it here.
