Cirrus upgrades its Avidyne MFDs

Cirrus has announced that its Avidyne Entegra Multi-Function Display has had an upgrade, which means that it will now display a set of pages at start-up inviting a ‘personal inventory before takeoff’. It will pose the pilot questions about limitations, weather, flight planning, passenger briefing and readiness to fly.

Alan Klapmeier, Cirrus CEO, has been talking a lot about safety recently in the wake of a series of accidents, calling on pilots to ensure that they are prepared for the flight they’re about to make. He even went as far as writing a letter to Cirrus pilots, saying that “As Cirrus pilots, we owe ourselves, our passengers, and our families a professional approach to operating our airplanes. More than anything else, this means safety.”

He pointed to a number of online resources which Cirrus had made available, and this new Entegra software seems to be another step in that direction. Some of the new software is available online for all pilots – see the Pilotsworld section of the Cirrus site.
