FLYER publisher Ian Seager has been awarded the prestigious Scott-Farnie Medal by the Air League in recognition of his long-standing contribution to general aviation and aviation education.

The award was presented at the Air League’s 2026 Annual Awards Reception, held at the Houses of Parliament on 8 July.

The Scott-Farnie Medal recognises significant work in the field of air education. The Air League praised Ian’s “exceptional and sustained contribution to the promotion of general aviation”, highlighting the role FLYER Magazine has played in informing, inspiring and bringing together the GA community.

The citation also recognised the impact of Pilot Careers Live, the series of careers events founded by Ian, which have helped connect thousands of aspiring pilots with flight schools, airlines and industry experts while demystifying aviation training and careers.

Ian said, “I was honoured to receive the Scott-Farnie Medal, but this award isn’t really about me. It’s recognition of what the FLYER and Pilot Careers Live teams have achieved together over many years. I’d like to thank everyone, past and present, who has contributed to that success.”

The Air League’s Annual Awards celebrate individuals and organisations making outstanding contributions to aviation, aerospace and air education. This year’s reception brought together leaders from across the aviation, aerospace, space, education and government sectors at Westminster.
