Can there be an alternative to the hugely popular Evektor Eurostar EV97 two-seat microlight? Sywell-based Flylight Airsports thinks they’ve found it: the Direct Fly Alto NG and they’ll be showing one at the Microlight Trade Fair at Popham on 2-3 May.
“We have been keeping a little secret…,” said Flylight Airports.
“We always had a soft spot for for the EV97 Eurostar and ran three on our flying school for many years.
“The world moves on and weight limits rise, and the modern pilot wants an aeroplane that can take advantage of that.
“We have found a worthy successor! The Direct Fly Alto. The all-metal Alto offers modern matched hole manufacturing technology, greater range, payload, performance and a host of small refinements. And at a surprisingly affordable price.”
One of the choices for the Alto NG cockpit is a Garmin panel
Flylight, which already offers the Skyranger high-wing microlight, says they are working with Exodus Airsports, UK agent for the DeltaJet flex-wing microlight, and plan to import the Alto as a kit or as a ready-to-fly 600kg microlight.
Manufacturer of the Alto NG, Direct Fly, is a Czech company based in Brno. Production, test flights and finishing takes place at Brno’s Medlánky Airfield.
They have offered the Alto for more than 15 years but recently updated it to the 600kg microlight category, the Alto NG, with changes to the length and design of engine bed and cowling. The front leg and fuselage have been both stiffened, and elevator control system modified to operate with integrated push-pull rods.
