Steve Fossett is claiming another world record after his latest global flight in the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer. He took off from Salina, Kansas in mid March and covered 21,979.8nm before landing back at the same airport. The previous record was set in 1986 by Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager in the Burt Rutan designed Voyager. Fossett has now completed three record-attempt flights in GlobalFlyer. Unlike the Ultimate Flight long-distance mission in February, when he diverted to Bournmouth, this trip was trouble free.
