In association with Pooleys Flight Equipment
3 February 2026
It’s February and when the weather relents there are four free landings available with FLYER for Club Members.
We thank the airfields for their help in arranging these – go and spend some money with them!
The four airfields are:

Cromer Airfield
Also known as Northrepps Airfield, Cromer is right up there in north Norfolk close to the beautiful coastline with the nearby beaches of Cromer itself, Salthouse and of course Wells Next To The Sea.
The airfield is all grass with UL91 fuel available by arrangement and the on-site ‘Cabin Crew’ diner is open at weekends. There’s also a opub in the village and all sorts of establiushments in Cromer town.
Online PPR essential and there are webcams to check what the weather is doing!

Holmbeck Farm Airfield
Located beneath the Luton CTA and between Wing Farm and Leighton Buzzard, the owner says there’s always plenty of cake available!
Noise abatement means PPR is essential for a briefing by phone. Telephone 01296 681816 or 07748 557202.
The runways (11/29) are 517 metres of grass, standard overhead join is preferred.

Netherthorpe Airfield
Home of Sheffield Aero Club which says, “Visiting pilots are very welcome.” The club continues: “Netherthorpe is strictly PPR by telephone. Visitors will be given a PPR number which must be quoted upon first radio contact. Without a PPR number, we cannot allow you to land as we have no proof that you have received a verbal briefing regarding the weather and runway conditions. Unless you are a regular visitor and are familiar with Netherthorpe you must get a safety brief with an instructor before departure.”
There’s self-service avgas 100LL available, but not mogas or avtur. Full MRO facilities are available from Dukeries Aviation.
The fully licenced Skyways bar and restaurant is open to the general public where excellent meals and snacks are available Thursday to Sunday.

Sherburn in Elmet Airfield
Sherburn Aero Club says it welcomes visitors from near and far, aviators, enthusiasts or those just looking for a fun day out with the family. “There is so much on offer including on-site flying instructors, classrooms and meeting rooms, a newly refurbished cafe and children’s play area and a pilot shop stocked with a range of aviation equipment, clothing, gifts and children’s toys,” said the club.
PPR is not mandatory at Sherburn Airfield, but you are welcome to use the PPR form if you prefer. You can always give the Flightdesk a call or call on frequency 122.610 for airfield information.
RWY 10/28 is tarmac, and there are also three grass runways, 10/28, 06/24 and 01/19.
Three typres of fuel are available: Avgas 100LL, Avgas ULK91 and Avtur Jet A1.
