Garmin has unveiled the D2 Mach 2 Pro, its latest aviator smartwatch and the first in its D2 range to feature built-in inReach satellite connectivity, enabling communication even without a mobile phone.
The new smartwatch combines aviation-specific tools with both satellite and LTE connectivity, allowing users to send messages, make voice calls, share location data and trigger SOS alerts directly from the wrist. The system connects to Garmin’s emergency response coordination centre for assistance when needed.
Designed for use in and out of the cockpit, the D2 Mach 2 Pro includes advanced aviation maps, weather reporting, avionics connectivity and on-device navigation. A dedicated “Red Shift” mode adjusts the display to preserve night vision during flight, while a built-in LED flashlight offers both white and red light options.

The watch also incorporates health and fitness tracking, including 24/7 monitoring and in-flight biometrics, alongside more than 100 activity profiles. Garmin says battery life extends up to 24 days in smartwatch mode.
Housed in a 51mm case with a titanium bezel and AMOLED display, the device includes a speaker and microphone and comes with interchangeable leather and silicone straps.
Garmin positions the D2 Mach 2 Pro as a safety and connectivity tool for pilots, particularly in situations where smartphones are unavailable. The watch is on display at Sun ’n Fun in Florida and is available now, priced at $1,550.
