HondaJet to be built in the USA

Honda has announced that it will build its HondaJet – one of the new breed of VLJs – in the United States, at a site on Piedmont-Triad airport at Greenboro, New Carolina.

The site is already the home of the project, having been the jet’s development base for a number of years already. It will now become ‘the world headquarters and sole production and final assembly facility for the HondaJet’, with marketing/sales, flight testing, customer delivery and other departments also based there.

The icosts of the initial phase of development is $60 million.

Honda says that it has orders for over 100 aircraft, with first deliveries due to begin in 2010.
