Ivanoff wins race; Mangold wins series

American pilot Mike Mangold has won the 2007 Red Bull Air Race World Series championship by taking third place in the season’s finale in Perth.

The race was won by Frenchman Nicolas Ivanoff. Britain’s Paul Bonhomme came a disappointing fifth. This meant that Bonhomme and Mangold finished equal on championship points; however, Mangold wins the series by virtue of better results in elimination rounds after both had the same number of firsts, seconds, thirds and fifth places this season.
