Bristol Groundschool has become the first modular training provider to be recognised by Jet2.com, giving aspiring airline pilots studying outside the integrated training route a direct pathway into the airline’s future pilot programme.
Under the new partnership, Bristol Groundschool students who have completed their first four ATPL theory examinations can be “tagged” by Jet2.com as part of its Jet2NextGen pilot talent scheme. Candidates will be assessed on their overall performance, including first-sitting exam results, with successful students tracked throughout the remainder of their training.
Those who continue to meet the airline’s requirements will have a defined route towards a flight deck career with Jet2.com, subject to completing their training and passing the airline’s selection process.
Gill Fowkes, Commercial Director at Bristol Groundschool, said the agreement recognised the growing importance of the modular training route and gave students the opportunity to be identified by an airline early in their training.
Jet2.com’s Future Pilot Programme Manager, Josh Raven, said ATPL theory represented the first major milestone towards an airline career and described Bristol Groundschool as a natural first modular training partner because of its reputation for producing knowledgeable and motivated trainees.
The announcement marks another expansion of Jet2NextGen, reflecting increasing airline interest in modular training as a route to addressing future pilot recruitment. Bristol Groundschool says the partnership further strengthens its position as one of the UK’s leading providers of modular ATPL theoretical knowledge training.
