Liberty gets Australian approval

The Liberty XL aircraft, brainchild of UK designer Ivan Shaw, was granted Australian certification by the Australian CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) earlier this month.

“The Australian market is integral to the strategic growth of Liberty,” said Liberty Aerospace CEO, Anthony Tiarks. “We are excited about Australia’s aviation community and look forward to welcoming new Liberty XL2 owners in this region of the world.”

Liberty Aerospace, the company behind the aircraft, is based in Florida, US. The Liberty is powered by a 125 hp Continental IOF-240-B and can cruise at speeds of up to 132 kt, with a range of 500 nm.

The Liberty was reviewed in FLYER’s August 2006 issue.
