Light aircraft shipments up in 2006

The (USA-based) General Aviation Manufacturers Assocation – GAMA for short – has released its final delivery listings for 2006, and they show that light aircraft manufacturers delivered 11 percent more aircraft in 2006 than they had in 2005. That represents a total of over 300 more aircraft.

Business jet deliveries rose 18 percent in the same period.

The total billings for all aircraft was $18.8 billion dollars, up 24 percent on the previous year, an all-time high.

The leading manufacturer in terms of numbers and income was once again Cessna <a href=”newsfeed.php?artnum=446″>(as reported here)</a> with 1,239 aircraft. 865 of those were piston singles. Cirrus delivered an impressive 721 units, making them clear second in the league table. Third was Diamond with 438.

28.3 percent of shipments were to destinations outside North America – another record high.
