The annual Microlight Trade Fair is being held at Popham Airfield, near Basingstoke this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday 3-4 May 2025.
At least 30 exhibitors will be at the event but the real show is the mass fly-in of microlight aircraft of all types, plus other modern and classic aircraft.
As well as fixed-wing and flex-wing microlights, and SSDRs, there’s also a strong contingent of gyrocopters – two leading manufacturers will be present, Magni Gyro and AutoGyro.
Three of the UK’s aviation associations are attending: the British Microlight Aircraft Association (BMAA) which will be holding its annual awards presentation and AGM over the weekend, the British Rotorcraft Association and the Light Aircraft Association (LAA).
New for 2025 is a Careers Tent which will promote the diverse range of careers available in aviation and the training available, whether that’s university, apprenticeships, graduate programmes or military. It’s put together by Metal Seagulls, Basingstoke College of Technology and the CAA.
It’s worth arriving early – the Trade Fair gets much busier than this later
Pilots wishing to fly in should read the Briefing Notes available here. There are likely to be many aircraft in the air around Popham so it’s essential to follow some simple rules.
Visiting pilots’ event entry ticket is included in the landing fee. The landing fee is £10 and all visiting pilots will get a free landing voucher for their next visit to Popham.
Visitor tickets can be bought in advance online, or at the gate. Prices for a single day are £12 in advance or £15 on the gate for an adult. Child prices and concessions are available and students have free admission – be prepared to show valid student photo ID. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome too.
Public camping is back for 2025! Buy a camping ticket alongside your event ticket.
