Two aircraft have been involved in a mid-air collision in the Midlands. Two occupants of one of the aircraft are reported to have been killed; three people in the second aircraft landed safely at nearby East Midlands airport.
East Midlands was closed for a time after the emergency arrival of that aircraft. This aircraft is reported – but not confirmed – to have been a parachute jump aircraft, possibly on its way for maintenance.
The other aircraft came down in a field near Blithfield Reservoir in Staffordshire. This aircraft is believed to be a Luscombe Silvaire.
