There’s a new record for the number of autogyros in one place: 88 flew into Old Warden Airfield, home of the Shuttleworth Collection, last Saturday, smashing the previous record of 71 set in 2022.

The British Rotorcraft Association (BRA) has confirmed a new record of gyros landing at a British airfield in an eight-hour window

“We need a little time to collate the data,” said the BRA. “What I can tell you is that a large French contingent actually helped very much in making this happen. 19 aircraft attended from France and we were delighted to welcome them to what they have now turned into and international event.

“Paul Kerry from Perth was the pilot who travelled the furthest in the UK to take part in this event.”

East Coast Gyrocopters added, “What an incredible day at the BRA Fly-In at Old Warden! We were proud to be part of the event as the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of gyrocopters at a flying event was officially broken!

“Our four-gyro formation flight from the East Coast made the journey even more memorable, with a stop at Deenethorpe enroute before joining gyro pilots and enthusiasts from across the UK and beyond.

“A fantastic atmosphere, amazing machines, great friends, and a historic achievement for the gyro community. Congratulations to everyone involved in making it happen!”
