Old Sarum takes show on the road

Salisbury-based Old Sarum Flying Club is to take its show on the road.

In the coming months the club will be taking a C42 Ikarus – one of the new breed of composite microlights – on tour round the local area, with visits planned to the Guildhall Square in Salisbury (Saturday 10 February), Waitrose Car Park (Saturday 31t March) ,Salisbury Racecourse (Sunday 6 May), Salisbury Motor Show at Wilton House (weekend of 16/17 June) and Salisbury County and Garden Show (weekend of 7/8 July).

Some of the venues may not sound particularly exciting, but it’s easier to go where all the people, than to get some of the people to come to you.

The Ikarus, with its 100mph cruise on 40 miles per gallon, is fast and economical, as well as looking modern, and as such is ideal for the job.

The appearances will give Old Sarum staff a chance to hand out information leaflets, talk to anybody who’s interested, and book trial lessons and even courses.

The Old Sarum Flying Club is based at Old Sarum airfield, the second-oldest operational airfield in the country.
