Robin DR401 boasts wider cockpit

With its additional 10cm of width thanks to its extended canopy, the new Robin DR401 should offer both more comfort and better visibility for pilot and passengers than its DR400 predecessor. In fact, the aircraft boasts a number of new features, many introduced as a result of feedback from DR400 owners.
While the basic airframe remains the same, the extra width allows a new central console between leather sports style seats. Elsewhere in the interior you’ll find electric flaps and stabilator trim, new coaming and instruments panels and a choice of analogue and Garmin G500 avionics.
Externally the big news is the optional Oratex wing covering which can mean a weight saving of up to 20kg, largely depending on whether you’re happy with the paint-free finish or prefer the wings to match in with the fuselage. The price on the DR401 is €300,000 for the IFR version and €200,000 for the VFR. First deliveries are planned for the end of April 2014.
