'Talk to the hand' – Garmin's new pilot watch

“Talk to the hand” – Arnold Scharwzenegger’s famous pose and phrase from Terminator 3 is now a reality.

Garmin’s latest version of its D2 pilot wristwatch lets pilots make calls and texts when paired with a smartphone just by talking to it.

The ‘voice assistant’ function built into the D2 Air X10 aviator smartwatch not only lets pilots make and receive phone calls, send and receive texts but also ask questions and control compatible smart home devices.

As well as the new comms functions, the D2 Air X10 has all the aviation tools we’ve come to expect in a Garmin pilot watch, including:

  • Weather
  • Direct-to navigation capabilities
  • Horizontal situation indicator (HSI)
  • Altimeter
  • Alerts
  • Airport information
  • Automatic flight logging
  • Pulse Ox1
  • Health, wellness and fitness features.

Garmin’s Carl Wolf said, “The D2 series has quickly proven itself to be the choice for pilots and aviation enthusiasts alike who need a purpose-built smartwatch that’s as functional in the air as it is on the ground.

“Not only does the D2 Air X10 offer built-in aviation tools for every phase of flight, it’s the first aviator smartwatch with convenient on-device calling and voice assistant features to keep up with your life on the go.”

The D2 Air X10 has a suggested retail price of $549.99.
