Tecnam has announced a new version of its high-wing two-seat aircraft: the P2008JC NG (for ‘New Generation’).
The new aircraft is certified to the latest EASA CS-23 standards and is powered by the latest 100hp Rotax 912 iSc fuel-injected engine, an upgrade from the previous carburettor equipped Rotax 912S2.
Tecnam says the upgraded engine comes with reduced running costs and CO2 emissions, which will appeal to flying schools in particular.
“With a fuel consumption of just 14 litres/hour (3.7 USG/h) and the ability to use a wide range of automotive fuels, the P2008JC NG significantly lowers hourly operating costs compared to heritage AvGas powered competitors,” said the Italian company.
“This efficiency directly translates to sustainability. By burning up to 30% less fuel than legacy trainers, the P2008JC NG drastically cuts CO2 emissions, allowing flight schools to offer a cleaner, more eco-conscious path to a pilot licence.”

The P2008JC NG retains Tecnam’s ‘Hybrid Airframe’ which uses a carbon-fibre fuselage for better aerodynamics and ergonomics, coupled to metal wings and stabilator which are more resistant to ‘hangar rash’, said Tecnam.
The company also says that for flying schools already operating the Tecnam P-Mentor or the P2006T NG twin, the P2008JC NG means the schools can standardise their fleet from ab-initio to instrument rating and multi-engine training, on a common ‘All-Injected’ fleet.
Other features of the P2008JC NG include:
Giovanni Pascale Langer, managing director of Tecnam, said, “We needed an aircraft that works hard, consumes little, and inspires confidence. This is the only trainer on the market that combines superior safety of CS-23, state-of-the-art avionics, and the unbeatable efficiency of modern injection technology.”
