Tesla Solutions, already the UK’s largest independent lessor of Diamond aircraft to pilot training schools, is broadening its offering at Oxford to include Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTDs).
The company currently manages a fleet of 27 training aircraft—12 Diamond DA40s and 15 DA42s—on lease to schools across the UK. Now it has added four simulators: a Boeing 737NG, an Airbus A320, and two Diamond DA42 devices. All are housed in a purpose-built training centre at London Oxford Airport.
The simulators are due to be qualified by the UK CAA as FNPTII MCC/FTD1 (for the jet devices) and FNPTII (for the DA42s) before the end of 2025. Once certified, they’ll be available on a ‘dry hire’ basis to flight schools, airlines and individual pilots.
Backing up the devices are classrooms, briefing rooms and full training centre facilities, creating what Tesla Solutions describes as a “flexible simulator hire solution” to complement its existing aircraft leasing business.
Founder John Hardcastle said, “I listened carefully to my customers and recognised that as well as flexible aircraft leases, they have also expressed a need for flexible simulator hire solutions to support their pilot training courses. We are delighted to be bringing this significant increase in available, flexible simulator capacity to the UK pilot training industry.”
