German engine maker Thielert has taken over Superior Air Parts in a $10 million deal. Texas based Superior is the world’s leading producer of spare parts for GA engines built by Lycoming and Continental. It is also a leading supplier of replacement engines in the secondary market. Thielert is a market leader in the field of aviation certified jet fuel/diesel, piston aircraft ‘Our acquisition of Superior Air Parts marks our final step along the road into the US-American market for engines and engine components and the expansion of our presence there’ said CEO Frank Thielert. Superior last year gained full certification for the Vantage, its version of the Lycoming IO-360.
