Upset Recovery Training – UPRT – is additional training that all pilots would benefit from. It’s now mandatory for would-be airline pilots but GA will also benefit.

Ultimate High Academy at Goodwood pioneered UPRT courses in the UK and last year offered two scholarships for GA pilots to come and do the UPRT course. This year, the scholarship is back with one place up for grabs.

The scholarship is named after Rob Wildeboer, the Goodwood Flying School Manager, who died in July 2021 after a sudden illness.

Rob joined Goodwood straight from school aged 16, initially as an aircraft engineering apprentice, making his way to Aviation General Manager before managing the Goodwood Flying School. He was a one-man institution at the Aerodrome, loved by all who came into contact with him and absolutely integral to everything done through the aviation business.

To apply for the 2023 Rob Wildeboer UPRT Scholarship, you must be at least 16 years old and hold or be capable of obtaining the appropriate aviation medical. Scholarships are only available for training at Ultimate High and training is to be carried out during 2023.

Any training required beyond that provided by the Scholarship is to be at the applicant’s expense. Applications will only be accepted in writing by email by the closing date of 20 July 2023. All applicants agree to abide by the decision of the selection panel.

To apply for a Rob Wildeboer Scholarship, please email [email protected] explaining in no more than 500 words and why you should be the one to benefit. Please provide brief details of any previous flying experience. Terms and conditions apply.
