The US House of Representatives has voted to allow airline pilots to stay in their jobs until they are 65. Previously (since 1960) the rule had been that pilots should retire at the age of 60.
This rule – should it make it through the Senate – would bring the US into line with ICAO rules. The new bill would require pilots who have reached 60 to have a medical every six months, and a line check every six months as well.
