Air League launches 2021 aviation scholarships

More than 100 different aviation scholarships and bursaries are now available from The Air League.

The Air League’s 2021 Scholarships opened this week and include powered flying, gliding and engineering. Applications must be submitted by 14 June 2021.

“Over the past decade, scholarships worth over £2 million have been allocated to young people across the UK,” said a statement from The Air Leage.

“We look for individuals that have a passion for aviation and aerospace and the determination to succeed.

“New opportunities are being introduced that will enhance the career pathways of future pilots, aspiring engineers and many other professional aviation disciplines.”

The Air League offers the broadest range of scholarships and bursaries in the UK, with over 100 opportunities being awarded annually.

If you are considering a career in aviation and aerospace, the Air League can offer you unrivalled support and help.

The scholarships include:

  • A 12-hour Flying Scholarship provides powered flight training towards the award of a Private Pilot’s Licence (PPL). Applicants must be aged between aged 18 – 35.
  • Flying Bursaries provide 3-5 hours of advanced flight training in single-engine piston aeroplanes to assist licensed pilots to gain additional flying qualifications or renew a rating. There are no age limits.
  • Gliding Scholarships are open to to pre and post-solo pilots aged 16 – 35, and are intended to help younger pilots either achieve their first solo or widen their gliding experience. This year, awards are available covering basic solo courses, aerobatic, cross-country and SLMG conversion training.
  • Engineering Scholarships provide industry placements for one or two weeks for young people considering careers across the full spectrum of available career options within engineering. Engineering scholarships are open to members aged 18 to 26.
