Bonhomme wins in Interlaken

British Red Bull Air Race pilot Paul Bonhomme will head into the London leg of the air race World Series on top of the table following a win today at Interlaken in Switzerland.

Bonhomme won a closely fought final against American Mike Mangold in front of a 35,000 crowd (which included Michael Schumaker). This was Bonhomme’s second win in the five races of the season so far. Third place went to Hungarian Peter Besenyei with another Brit, Steve Jones, in fourth.

As usual, the setting for the race was stunning – the course stretched out in front of a trio of famous Swiss peaks, the Eiger, Moench and Jungfrau.

You can catch the race on Channel 4 on 21st July.

The London leg of the series, over the Thames near the newly renamed O2 dome (formerly the Millennium Dome) takes place on the weekend of 28 and 29 July.
