Bonhomme wins Red Bull Rio

British Red Bull Air Race pilot Paul Bonhomme has won the latest round of the Red Bull Air Race series, which was held in Rio de Janeiro.

The course was laid out below Sugar Loaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro’s famous Botafogo Bay. Bonhomme (at 01:32.45 minutes) was a full four seconds clear of Spaniard Alejandro Maclean (01:36.53) in second place. Peter Besenyei, winner of the first of the season, was disqualified.

The event is reported to have attracted one million spectators.

“Awsome and unforgettable,” said Bonhomme after the event. “That was by far the best racing event of my career. From training and qualifying to theelimination and in the end the finale. I dominated in Rio.”
