CAA to hold webinars to explain PPL changes

New UK pilot licensing regs came into force from the beginning of this month (October 2025) and their aim is to simplify and streamline… but do we all understand them as yet?

Probably not, so the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is holding a series of webinars aimed at different sections of the General Aviation (GA) community.

• Simple explanation of upcoming changes to pilot licensing

They’re free – you just need to register. They are:

• Aeroplanes/Microlights, Thursday 16 October, 18:00 – 19:30. Click here to register
• Helicopters/Rotorcraft, Wednesday 22 October, 18:00 – 19:00. Click here to register
• Sailplanes (in co-operation with the British Gliding Association), Wednesday 29 October, 19:00 – 20:00.  Click here to register

The CAA’s GA Unit says the webinars are primarily aimed at instructors and examiners, but all pilots are welcome.

The webinars will be an opportunity to hear about the changes in more detail, as well as a chance to ask questions. Questions can be sent in advance to [email protected]

The sessions will also be recorded and made available for future review on the CAA website.
