Car vandals attack aircraft

Vandals have substantially damaged five aircraft at Redhill Aerodrome by using a car as a battering ram.

Three or four of the five machines – a Pegasus CT, a Jabiru, a Cessna 152, a Seneca and a Rans – are thought to be write-offs. The Seneca belonged to Redhill Aviation and the Jabiru to Cloudbase Aviation; the others are understood to be privately owned.

The car used in the wrecking spree on Monday night/Tuesday morning was a Ford Granada that had been parked on the airfield. It was later found abandoned on a taxiway. Those repsonsible had cut a padlocked chain to access the airfield which has recently had security strengthened.

We are very sorry for those involved.
