The CAA has announced that it is now providing details of changes to VFR charts via an RSS feed which you can place in your favourite RSS reader; alternatively, you can subscribe and have the information sent to your computer in an email.
RSS – Really Simple Syndication – has become a big utility on the web over the past couple of years. There are a number of ways in which you can view RSS feeds: via dedicated software; through your browser; many email programs now have RSS feed features; and a growing number of websites allow you to collect all your favourites feeds together into one webpage.
There is a useful ‘how to get started’ section on the <a href=’http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=114&pagetype=65&appid=33′ target=’_blank’>CAA website</a>.
That <a href=’http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?catid=114&pagetype=65&appid=33′ target=’_blank’>same page</a> has details of all the feeds which are available.
The charts involved are the 1:500,000 and 1:250,000 VFR ones.
For extra information about charts, the CAA also maintains a section on its website at <a href=’http://www.caa.co.uk/charts’ target=’_blank’>www.caa.co.uk/charts</a>.
