Original story 28/2/2007: Hundreds of motorists around the country are reporting problems with a batch of fuel which appears to have got onto garage and supermarket forecourts.

Details are sketchy at the moment – both as to the cause of the problem, where or when the faulty fuel is likely to have been sold and how it will affect engines.

However, where for a motorist such a batch of bad fuel might be an inconvenience, if you’re a pilot and your aircraft runs on mogas, the same thing could quickly lead to a nasty emergency.

More as we have it.
