There’s a chance that professional flight training may become easier to finance in the not too distant future.
At the BBGA (British Business and General Aviation Association) Conference held in St Albans earlier this week it was hinted that the government may re-introduce Individual Learning Accounts (ILA), or at least something similar.
The ILA was originally introduced in September 2000. By October 2001 some 9,000 organisations had registered as learning providers and some 2.5 million people were registered as eligible to train. The scheme was closed in December 2001 amid allegations of abuse and fraud.
The possibility of the ILA being re-introduced was welcomed, although no specific details or time tables were mentioned.
