Garmin has launched a web-based version of its flight planning/moving map software. Garmin Pilotweb is based on its Pilot app available for Apple of Android mobile devices.

Garmin says the real benefit is the ability to plan a flight on your home computer or laptop, then transfer it to your mobile device.

“One subscription covers up to three of your mobile devices and gets you premium web features,” said Garmin.

“With comprehensive weather data, maps, charts, NOTAMs, fuel prices and more — Garmin Pilot can make flight planning a breeze.

“Graphical weight and balance tools1 make it easy to ensure that your aircraft is loaded within limits. Aircraft data can be easily imported from our library of popular aircraft, or you can input data manually and share it with fellow pilots.

“Built-in calculators estimate fuel burn, en route legs, arrival times and other key data for your flight.

“When your preflight planning is complete, easily file your flight plan directly from the app. Garmin Pilot supports VFR flight plan filing globally and IFR flight plan filing in the U.S., Canada and Europe. Flight plans can also be filed via FltPlan.com and seamlessly imported to Garmin Pilot.”

The service is available to trial here.
