US manufacturer MD Helicopters is teasing a video and brief details of a new helicopter to be revealed at this week’s Verticon trade show. It is the MD 564, which has already been called a ‘hot rod’ because of its six-blade main rotor giving outstanding performance.
According to a social media post by MD Helicopters, key features include:
- 6-blade main rotor / 4-blade tail rotor
- Rolls-Royce 250-C47E/3 engine with dual-channel Fadec, delivering 675 shp
- +650 lb internal payload and +750 lb external payload
- 4-hour endurance with 400+ nm range
- HOGE capability at MTOW up to 14,500ft
- Up to 30–40% lower direct operating costs vs. competing aircraft
