British pilots Jennifer Murray and Colin Bodill have finally made it to the North Pole, after days of waiting for a weather window.
The pair are on a record breaking trip to fly round the world via the two poles. They are flying a Bell 407 helicopter. They set off from Fort Worth in Texas in December, reached the South Pole in January, and the North Pole today.
They are now well behind their intended schedule, and given that the weather doesn’t look too good, they have decided that they will now return to the USA directly via Canada. Their original itinerary had them leaving the North Pole via Norway and other Scandinavian countries and spending several days in the UK before heading back to the USA via Iceland and Canada.
