Pilot 'crashes into' in-laws' house

Mystery still surrounds a crash which occurred in Bedford, Indiana yesterday morning local time.

The aircraft – a Cessna 150M – had two people on board, the pilot Eric Johnson, 47, and his eight-year-old daughter Emily. The aircraft, which had been rented that morning from the local airport, had just taken off. Initially, eye witnesses suggested that it might be attempting to turn back to airport when it crashed into a house.

However, local news sources in Bedford later revealed that house into which the aircraft crashed belonged to Johnson’s former parents-in-law, and that Emily’s mother had reported her missing at about the time of the crash.

Last night the local police said a preliminary investigation showed that the crash was “an intentional act”. One woman was in the house at the time; she was uninjured.
