3Rs to hold race school and open day at Popham

The title is a bit of a mouthful but here goes: the Royal Aero Club Racing, Rally and Records Association of Great Britain (also known as the 3Rs) is holding an ‘Introduction to the Royal Aero Club and Race School Experience Day’.

The 3Rs organise the Handicap British Air Racing season, including the Schneider Trophy and Kings Cup Air races, as well as arranging air tour rallies to all parts of the UK and near continent. They also ratify UK aviation records.

The introduction days are on 23-24 April 2022 at Popham Airfield.

“Any interested pilot can meet the team and gather information on the British Air Racing series of weekend air races and all our other activities,” said a statement from the 3Rs.

“During the morning, there will be a short ground school of information that will include Air Race Theory incorporating the Rules and Regulations.

“After lunch [there’s] the possibility of flying with an experienced air race check pilot around a short course to demonstrate the basic flying and navigation skills required.

“On the Saturday evening you can also meet the club members at a social event.”

The experience days are free to attend and open to all. More info here.

Survey

The 3Rs are also seeking help with a survey to help identify how the club can be inclusive and provide services and aviation experiences pilots might want.

“It will only take five minutes and we would very much appreciate your insight and knowledge,” said the club.
