Skycatcher ‘unlikely’ to be available in Europe

It is “unlikely” that we’ll be seeing the Cessna Skycatcher available on the European market, according to Jodi Noah, Cessna’s Senior Vice President, Single Engine/Propeller Aircraft.
This news comes after Cessna reported sales of just two examples of the type in the first quarter of this year in USA, a move which followed a number of pricing changes and problems with the previously much-vaunted two-seater LSA.
The Skycatcher was launched back in 2007 in the USA and heralded as an exciting new addition to the training fleet. However, its move to the European market has been held up by certification issues and following Jodi’s comments, it now looks unlikely that we’ll see the aircraft for sale here at all.
However, other news from Cessna at AERO has been more positive for the US manufacturer, exhibiting at the German event again this year after an absence of some years. Commenting on the Corvalis TTX, 15 have now been produced with the aircraft in its final stages of certification and deliveries due to start taking place this quarter. The Caravan EX, meanwhile, has seen a power increase from 675hp to 867hp. And of particular interest to UK readers, Cessna announced that the 182 JT-A will make its debut at this year’s AeroExpo at Sywell.
