How do some pilots manage to spot a weather window days ahead and go flying even in the midst of a British winter? One explanation could be they’ve been on a Weather School course.

Yes, Simon Keeling, who provides the FLYER Weekend Weather forecast on both the website and FLYER Show, runs courses for pilots to help them make better weather decisions – and there are gift vouchers available which make perfect presents for pilots at Christmas.

“Weather School Gift Vouchers are a perfect gift for pilots who want to make better weather decisions, spot weather windows 5-days in advance, and use weather to maximise flying opportunities,” said Simon. “These vouchers enable the recipient to choose a course and date that suits them best.”

There are also books, DVDs and subscriptions to Weatherweb Premium. Among the books is The Pocket Weather Forecaster Book which features 84 full colour pages showing cloud formations and the weather that each foretell. There’s a brief summary about air masses and fronts too.

The DVDs include Simon’s Weather Whys DVD which explains the workings of the weather in a series of short (approx 5 minute) videos, each covering a weather topic. The full DVD lasts for more than two hours but the idea is that you dip in and out selecting the topics you’d like to watch on demand.

Get your skates on though, as the last posting day for delivery by Christmas is Wednesday 17 December 2025. Order online here or call 01902 895252.
