The team of volunteers that took over Swansea Airport in July 2024 is to be granted a long term lease by Swansea Council.
The Swansea Airport Stakeholders Alliance (SASA) stepped in when the previous operator surrendered the lease to make sure the airport stayed open and vital services continued.
Since taking over, SASA has:
Most importantly, there‘s also interest from businesses looking to relocate to the airport, which could bring further investment and employment opportunities.
Following a detailed report to Swansea Council Cabinet, SASA will be offered a long lease on commercial terms, subject to independent valuation to ensure best consideration for the Council.
This approach will allow SASA to invest in infrastructure, create jobs, maintain the airport’s operational licence and protect the council’s interests as landlord of the airport.
