Swift Aircraft has announced that further plans to develop Wombleton Airfield have been approved.
On 12 March 2013, Swift Aircraft was granted permission to refurbish the control tower to use as an office and ancillary storage. This will accommodate the design, sales and administration functions within Swift Aircraft, Europa Aircraft, Aviation Marine Engineering (AMEL) and Swift TG Maintenance.
Dave Stanbridge, founder and Company Director of Swift Aircraft, said, “Being granted planning permission for the initial development of Wombleton airfield is obviously great news as it allows all the aviation activity within Swift Technology Group to be housed in one location.”
Going forward, Swift Aircraft aims to work with the local community to responsibly develop the airfield, and to be sympathetic to its history, the environment and local infrastructure. The company will be announcing more details of a new British aircraft in the next few months, following the announcement in August 2012 of new two-seater aeroplane (pictured), a project that Dave Stanbridge described as, “The first UK-designed certified and built aircraft for more than 20 years.”
