Wellesbourne Airfield: developers reveal latest plan

Wellesbourne Airfield

A plan to reduce the size of Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield with a new runway and an industrial estate has been revealed by developers Gladman and Stoford.

“The plans seek to ensure the long-term viability of the airfield through the delivery of a new runway and enhanced facilities, made possible with the introduction of new employment development which will generate significant job opportunities,” said a statement from the developers who are working with the site owners.

The statement continues with these proposals:

  • A new realigned runway built to modern standards.
  • New hangars, aircraft plane parking and maintenance facilities along with a new control tower, a check-in area, waiting lounge and café.
  • Areas of the new airfield safeguarded for future airfield tenants.
  • A new high-quality employment development, delivered by Stoford, that will generate significant job opportunities.
  • New flexible industrial floorspace to meet a variety of smaller business needs accessed independently from Stratford Road.
