Wilksch diesel's first flight

The first customer production Wilksch WAM-120 engine flew in a Thorpe T211
airframe for the first time on May 11th out of Cranfield with James Sullivan
at the controls. He reported that acceleration was brisk, with a take-off
roll of 150 metres close to its MAUW, and a climb rate of 1000fpm could be
held without nearing coolant and oil temp limits. 4 flights were carried
out, and the aircraft is now into its 25 hour test program. If all goes
according to plan, it should be at Aerofair this weekend.
