Win a PPL course

Dream2Fly is a new scholarship scheme sponsored by British Airways Flying Club, Air BP and FLYER magazine, which will allow one candidate to learn to fly for free in 2007.

The scholarship includes all the lessons (up to 50 hours) required in order to learn to fly. The cost of books, exams, charts, landing fees, medical, club membership and everything else required for obtaining a PPL is included – making a prize which would be worth in excess of £9,000.

All finalists will win a Pilot’s Logbook and the first hour’s flying lesson towards a PPL, plus a year’s free subscription to FLYER magazine.

The competition is open to anyone over the age of 16 who is at school or college within reasonable travelling distance of the British Airways Flying Club base at Wycombe Air Park, which is where you will learn to fly. As the winner, you would be expected to make your way to the airfield on average once a week for a lesson; you would be expected to study for the ground exams and you will be asked to share your experiences with the readers of FLYER magazine every couple of months or so.

All you have to do is write an article or essay, of no more than 750 words, on why you have always wanted to learn to fly. Entries should be submitted, with the entry form (which you’ll find on the website) before 15th April, which is the closing date.

If you’re the lucky winner, you’ll start learning in July this year.
