BRP introduces new Rotax 912iS Sport

BRP has introduced the new Rotax 912 iS Sport aircraft engine at the Sun ‘n’ Fun Fly-in and Expo in Lakeland, Florida.
A development of the fuel-injected Rotax 912 engine series (pictured), the new model according to Rotax delivers an improved take-off performance that results in a better climb rate and shorter take-off-run, even if the aircraft is equipped with a fixed pitch propeller.
Francois Tremblay, marketing director, Rotax aircraft engines, BRP, explained, “The new fuel-injected model has been further developed. The engine concept allows the pilot to benefit from an easier operation, longer flight range and lower operating costs, compared to carbureted engines. The Rotax 912 iS Sport engine echoes our key values: outstanding performance for the end user based on an eco-performing concept.”
The Rotax 912 iS Sport engine provides the best fuel efficiency in its class. Same as the Rotax 912 iS model, Rotax states the new engine delivers 38% – 70% better fuel efficiency than comparable competitive engines in the light sport, ultra-light aircraft and the general aviation industry.
The engine uses a modern fuel injection system combined with a digital engine control unit (ECU). The new Rotax 912 iS Sport engine provides a time of 2,000 hours between overhauls (TBO); the same TBO as the 912 engines.
