European GPS project needs new name

The European Union are going to have to think of another name for their proposed rival to the American GPS system.

A Munich court of appeal has ruled that the proposed name Galileo belongs to a Barbados IT firm.

The case involved EADS Astrium GmbH, a German satellite company involved in the consortium building the system.

The court also ruled against any further appeal.
