Florida escapes another big hurricane

A feared second wave of damage in the wake of Hurricane Charley was avoided when Hurricane Frances weakened to a tropical storm over Florida.

Around 2.5 million people were told to evacuate their homes after a state of emergency had been declared.

British tourist flights were hit with Orlando and Tampa airports closed as the hurricane headed towards Florida.
