Free? Something in aviation that’s free? Yes, and there are no catches. Jon Cooke has refreshed the GASCo Performance Calculator, and it’s now completely free to use.
“It’s a handy web app that works beautifully on your PC, iPad, or iPhone,” explains Jon.
“Just use the ‘Add to Home Screen’ option in your browser, and once you’ve run it once, it’ll even work offline.
“By default, everything’s set to 100, so you can instantly see percentage increases in take-off and landing distances.
“Pop in the figures from your AFM/POH to get corrected distances using the CAA’s recommended safety factors for runway conditions and advanced scenarios.
“Give it a spin and let me know what you think — feedback always welcome!”

The General Aviation Safety Council (GASCo)was founded in 1964 to provide a forum in which all of the General Aviation organisations could meet to share safety information.
These days almost every organisation that represents those who supply, maintain, control, support, regulate and, most importantly, fly is a member of GASCo.
GASCo’s regular events include Safety Evenings, usually run at flying clubs around the UK during the winter.
